Our client was charged with a felony DUI (driving under the influence) offense. The offense involved injuries, which increased the potential criminal penalties. Morgan Law Firm successfully defended the client, obtaining a case dismissal.
Our client was previously represented by other defense counsel and convicted of felony murder, mandating a life sentence without the possibility of parole. Morgan Law Firm filed a motion for a new trial, which was granted and subsequently upheld on appeal in a published opinion (People v. Callahan (2004) 124 Cal. App. 4th 198). Subsequently, Morgan Law Firm obtained an agreement reducing the conviction to voluntary manslaughter with a nine year sentence.
Our client was convicted of second degree murder for the killing of her abusive husband and received a sentence of 15 years to life. Morgan Law Firm obtained a Compassionate Release from the Department of Corrections, and our client was released after 18 years of incarceration.
Our client, the former wife of the President of the Hell’s Angels, was charged with a drug offense, and the trial court set her bail at $1 million. Morgan Law Firm filed a Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus with the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, which the Court granted, ruling the bail amount to be excessive.
